Listing Text

- Railway Viaduct
Railway Viaduct. 1839 for Manchester Leeds Railway Co.
Engineer, G Stephenson. Fock-faced stone. Total of 6 elliptical arches, the
northern-most being skew and having arched walkways to
either side. All the arches have keystones, rusticated
voussoirs and are supported on piers with impost blocks.
One arch has been bricked up in C20. Coped parapet above a
continuous band, slightly altered on the west side as a
result of the station platform. Battered terminating piers.
An important landmark in the Littleborough townscape.
