House, hotel when surveyed. c1840. Red brick in Flemish bond, Welsh slate roof. Two storeys
with attics, 3 x 2-bays with 2-storey l-bay wing to rear-right corner and kitchen
wing in angle with main range. Plinth. Open-fronted, central porch has corniced
transom and overlight in keyed archivolt; cornice and blocking course; wide
panelled door within. Outer bays lit by large sashes with glazing bars in
architraves rising from blocks on plinth. 1st floor: band; moulded sill band;
central rounded headed sash with consoles to keyed archivolt; outer windows as below
but smaller. Nosed string course and brackets on consoles beneath corniced eaves
overhang; hipped roof with corniced stacks to side ridges. Wing set back on right
has basket-arched carriage entrance with keystone; sill band to 16-pane sash; hipped
roof. Rear: round-headed sash to stair window; attic windows below eaves. Left
return: inserted French window on left otherwise sashes with glazing bars under
wedge lintels. Right return: bay 1 blind, unequally hung 16-pane sash to ground
floor bay 2. Interior: central hall with contemporary staircase having cast-iron
balustrade. Pilastered marble fireplace in front-left room.
