Catacomb. c.1863. Lucy and Littler. Stone with slate
roof. 9 bays. Weathered buttresses and corbelled parapet
with gargoyles. Bays have 3 trefoil-headed panels, some
inscribed with names. Central through passage has segmental
arches on wall piers with angel corbels. End bay entrances
on north side have pointed arches, the mouldings dying into
the wall and flush gables projecting through the parapet,
with crockets and fleurons. Returns have round apses with 3
lancets with iron grilles. Roof has skylights, most boarded
(1984). Interior: has 2 chambers with iron gates.
Quatrefoil piers support diaphragm arches and segmental
pointed arches to side recesses.
