Bank building. 1868. Lucy and Littler. Three storeys, mezzanine and attic, seven bays to Castle Street, six bays to Derby Square. Stone. First five bays symmetrical about the elaborate entrance bay with pilasters carved with swags. On first floor a balustraded balcony project over entrance, the first floor window emphasised by carved round arch. Second floor has two round-arched main windows with iron balcony and carved reclining figures in spandrels. Plinth. Entablature and balustrade above the mezzanine floor. Further balustrades above the first floor and deep consoled cornice over the attic windows. Ground floor and mezzanine windows flat-headed in architraves, those above round-headed with moulded imposts. The two right hand bays are similar and over all is a balustrade with panelled chimneys. The details to Derby Square are similar but the end bays are emphasised.
