1886-7. Church. Grayson and Ould. Red sandstone. Nave
with gabled aisles, south porch, chancel, north chapel and
south-east tower. 4-bay aisles have 3-light windows with
perpendicular tracery; high 5-light west window in
projection with windows in returns. North transept has 4-
light window and diagonal buttresses. 3-bay North Chapel
has 4-light east window. 7-light window to chancel and
vestry to south. Tower has angle buttresses, with canted
turret in south-east angle; paired 2-light bell openings
with transoms, cornice with gargoyles; embattled parapet
with pinnacles. Interior: 5-bay arcades on quatrefoil
columns; arch braced collar roof. Octagonal alabaster font
with relief scenes to sides, pulpit in similar style.
Wrought iron screens to chancel and chapel, and parclose
screen. Organ in finely detailed case in arch to south of
chancel. Sedilia with cusped arches and pinnacles. Good
C19 stained glass, mostly by Kempe; 2 windows by Morris and
Co. (south aisle south east and baptistry south) are early
works. An example of a complete late C19 church.
