Includes 78 & 78A Canning St and No.53 Huskisson St. Terrace of
6 houses, originally symmetrical, c.1835. Stucco with slate
roof. 2 storeys (with attic storey to Nos. 37 to 39 and
attic to No.40) and basement, 2 bays to each house, end 3
bays at each end are returns to houses on Canning St and
Huskisson St. Top cornice and blocking course. Each house
has one canted bay. Nos. 38 and 39 have 2-storey canted bays
with cornice and balustrades. Entrances have Doric porches,
windows above have balustraded balconies. No.38 has iron
balconies to 1st floor bay windows. Nos 37 and 40 have 2-
storey canted bays, the 1st floor of which has balustraded
balconies, panelled pilasters, entablature and gable to
front. Tripartite windows to front, architraved windows to
sides. Entrances have Tuscan porches. No.37 has added attic
storey with balustrading to sill. No.40 has balustraded
balcony to window over door. No.78 Canning St has canted
ground floor bay with balustraded parapet, 2 balustraded
balconies, return has Tuscan porch and varied fenestration.
No.53 Huskisson St similar to No.78 Canning St but with
Ionic porch. Iron railings to front gardens and steps have
decorative heads; Nos 37 and 38 have iron gate piers.
