19/594 Mere Bank Public

Public House. Dated 1881. Brick, terracotta, timber and
plaster, slate roof. Richly ornamented. 2 storeys. 6
bays, canted corner bay, 2 bays to Mere Lane. Ground floor
has mullioned and transomed windows with round windows over.
Terracotta panels between windows, sunflowers, birds and
flowers carved with layers of paint. Centre arched entrance
and altered corner entrance. Upper part half-timbered with
pargeted panels, mullioned and transomed windows with cusped
lights, steeply pitched slate roof with domed louvre, and
gable over angle, and 3 gables over centre of main front,
emphasising the pointed arched doorway with 2 standing
statues flanking the upper windows over the door. Return to
Mere Lane has date plaque.
