House,1810. Brick with stone dressings, hipped slate roof.
2 storeys, 5 bays. Stone base, 1st floor sill band, top
cornice and blocking course. Windows have wedge lintels and
are sashed, with glazing bars. Central 1st floor window has
architrave. Central elliptical-headed entrance has half-
glazed doorcase and paired 2-panel doors; porch has paired
Tuscan columns, frieze, cornice and blocking course. Brick
raised flower beds surround porch. 2 brick stacks in line
with ridge. Low C20 extension to right, larger C20 extension
to rear of left return. Thomas Nuttall (1786-1859) the
famous botanist, who did much pioneering work in the U.S.A.,
lived here from 1842 until his death.
