7/138 Well Cottage
House. C18, datestone formerly had C18 date, now eroded.
Brick with slate roof. 2 storeys, 2 bays. Band over ground
floor. Ground floor windows have gauged brick cambered
arches and casements. 1st floor windows have 3-light
horizontally sliding sashes. Entrance to left has gauged
brick cambered arch. Left return has projecting gable-end
stack. Right return to street has datestone and blocked
window. Rear has outshut and some horizontally sliding
sashes. Interior has baffle to entrance, possibly to
inglenook fireplace. 2 doors with C18 architraves. Stair
has turned balusters, moulded handrail and closed string,
said to be taken from pulpit of St. Helen's church (q.v.).
