Stone statue of George Sawson (1821-1876) by Thomas Woolner, 1880, in a modern
setting utilising part of the sates from the entrance to the old Reference
Library. They are about 12 ft high ham a rosette pattern and were executed
in the late C19 by the Birmingham Guild Company.
