Dated 1898, by W Alexander Harvey, altered. Brick with minimum stone dressings
on the ground floor, upper storeys with timber-framing and roughcast infill;
tile roof. Three storeys; 3 gabled bays. Ground floor with 2 original shop
fronts and No 220 completely altered. First floor with 3 canted bay windows
with side lights and dentilled cornice carried on corbels with grotesques
carved by Benjamin Creswick. Second floor with a central canted bay window
beneath which a panel with soldiers in relief flanking a copper cartouche
and two 4-light casement windows, that on the right being the only window
on the facade to have lost some of its leaded lights. The entrance to No 216
on the right-hand return.
