C1840 substantial detached stucco villa, set back behind carriage sweep and
front garden, with service wing and coach house approached from north side on
Carpenter Road. Two storey 3 bay symmetrical front; plinth and ground floor
channelled up to first floor sill band. Bed mould to deep flat eaves of
hipped slate roof; one stucco chimney with cornice and ornamental pots.
Ground floor windows replace C1860 by 2 large canted bay windows with
channelled stucco frames and deep entablatures crowned by case iron urns.
First floor has plain revealed glazing bar sashes. Large projecting doorway
in plain broad frame with large console brackets supporting dropped frieze,
containing scroll work decoration, and moulded pediment over. A screen wall
extends north, in front of recessed service wing, to link with hipped roof
coach house, its segmental arched entrance set. in long flank to Carpenter
Road.
