Pair of houses with lockmaker's workshops. Early to mid-C19. Brick in
Flemish bond with tile roof. Two storeys, three bays. Ground floor windows
have C20 frames, and stucco lintels with false chamfered voussoirs. First
floor windows, now boarded over, are sashed. Doorways, between bays, have
round heads with cast iron fanlights. Brick dentil course. Gables coped
with chimneys. Rear yard has workshops on north and west sides. The
northern workshop is of a single storey with monopitch tile roof and has
an almost continuous row of windows with glazing bars, some opening as case-
ments, and a door and chimney to the right. The western workshop is smaller,
and also of a single storey. Said to be shown on Beckett's map of 1838.
The workshops are described in Wrathmell, SP, Early Industrial Workshops in
Walsall and Willenhall, MA Thesis, Manchester University School of Architecture,
1977, pp 36-41.
