Parish church. C14, rebuilt 1852 by S.S. Teulon. Flint with stone quoins
and tiled roof. Aisless nave, paired transeptale chapels, chancel. 3 stage
west tower with flushwork parapet substantially C14. All windows are in
Decorated style of 1852 throughout church. Continuous string course under
windows. Chancel east window of paired intersecting ogees. Spherical
triangle to north transept. Octagonal vestry with steep tiled roof. Ogeed
priest's door into south chancel with finial. C12 south doorway of single
order shafts - chevron and irontwist - volute capitals below squared imposts
and double ziz-zag arch. Interior whitewashed. Nave roof has arched braces
supporting principals with collars. Ridge piece and purlins. Conspicuous
ashlaring. Transeptal and chancel roofs similar, the latter with foiled
braces and moulded purlins. Excellent triradial articulation of timber roof
over crossing similar to Ball at Shadwell Court. Fine timber reredos with
altarpiece of Adoration. Alabaster and timber altar railing. Wrought iron
parclose screens to tower and transepts. Stained glass in all windows;
largely by Ward and Dixon. East window by Gibbs.
