4/18 Church of St Nicholas.

10.5.61 II*

Former parish church, now vested in the Redundant Churches Fund. C12 round tower
with C19 octagonal top, C14 nave and north aisle, Cl5 south porch, chancel.
Flint rubble with limestone dressings, pantiled nave and south porch, leaded
chancel. Roof structure continuous over nave and chancel. 3 light west window
with flowing tracery, mid C14. Three south windows, one Decorated, two Perpendicular
but with identical rere-arches and mouldings. Two staged brick buttresses on east
wall marking line of former chancel (now demolished). North arcade of three bays
with double-chamfered arches and quatrefoil piers. C19 roofs with arched braces on
wall posts and corbels. Plastered ceiling over nave. C19 benches and fittings.
Fragnents of mediaeval glass in south windows.
