6/25 The Old Vicarage
GV II
House, formerly the vicarage to St Mary's church. Late C18/early C19. Red brick,
hipped slate roofs. Two storeys and attics. Double-pile, 'M' roof. Principal
facade of five bays, central bay slightly advanced and pedimented with dentil
ornament. Plain string course at first floor level. Sashes with glazing bars
and rubbed brick arches. Central doorway with pedimented doorcase. Two chimney
stacks. Segmental heads to openings on south and east sides. Two segmental-
headed dormers on south side. Possibly earlier 2-storey wing to south east with
hipped roof: brick dentil eaves and plain corner pilasters. Casements with
leaded glazing.
