8/59 The Thatched Cottage

GV II

House, C17, red brick and thatch, 1½ storeys with rear leanto, divided into cottage
and shop. Scattered fenestration of sashes and casements, with 2 boarded doors
under segmental brick arches. 2 eye brow dormers, with C19 casement to the right.
Shallow, 1½ storey buttress with moulded brick cap. End stack at left, and off
centre, re-built, axial stack. Left hand cottage, with open brick fireplace with
timber bressumer, hardwood ceiling joists and chamfered transverse beams to ground
floor. Included for group value.
