8/62 Rookery Farm House
and Cart Shed.


Farm House, circa 1810, of red brick with smut pantile, red pantile and slate
roofs. 'L'-shaped plan of 2 storeys. South elevation of 5 bays, with entrance
doors in the second and fourth bays with blank windows above. Kitchen door
to the west, 6 panelled withshouldered architrave and flat cornice. Principal
entrance door to the east. 4 panelled door with timber doorcase and broken
pediment on consoles. East elevation, 2 bays, with storey height ground floor
windows. Windows, sashes with glazing bars and segmental gauged brick arches.
Roof hipped to south east, and with parapet gables to west and north. Timber
eaves with brackets. At the rear, lean-to slate roof over colourwashed brick
extension with scattered fenestration of sash and casement windows with glazing
bars. Attached to the west a 4 bay cart shed and granary of 2 storeys, with
curved timber lintels supporting segmental brick arches. Linked to this a
high rendered brick wall. Cart shed and wall included for group value.
