TG 02 SE REEPHAM KERDISTON

3/107 Old Workhouse Cottages

II

Four terraced cottages, built in early C17, altered in early C18 and extended
to the west in the C18. Built of red brick and pantiles, of 1½ storeys, single
storey outshuts to the rear. Eastern gable with C17 diapering. Eastern half
with moulded string course at first floor level and evidence of altered doors and
windows. Towards the centre, C19 and C20 windows in original openings. Western
half with C20 doors and windows in original openings. Brick tumbling in in the western
gable. 7 wedge dormers, casement windows with glazing bars. End stacks and
2 axial stacks. Brick in eastern wall, dated 1714 and inverted. Ground floor room
to the east with large open fireplace, the bressumer shortened at its southern end.
Moulded joists and stopped and chamfered spine beam. Staggered butt purlin roof.
