Potmere Farmhouse

Farmhouse. Early C17, altered late C17. Timber framed with rendered wattle
and daub infill. Thatched roof. Through passage plan. 1 storey and dormer
attic. Central door flanked by 2 C18 casements. Further small casement to
right. Flat topped pantiled dormer over door. Gabled roof with 2 ridge
stacks, to left and right of centre. Clay lump kitchen outshut C19. Originally
open hall house with upper floor late C17 insertion necessitating cutting of
tie beams to form door openings. Timber frame mostly intact but winder
staircase removed. Brick fireplace to ground floor intact. Staggered butt
purlin roof with collars.
