12/94 The Pleasance
G.V. II
House. c.1600. Timber framed with wattle and daub infill and mid C19 brick
facing. 2 storeys. 2 doors, that to left blocked, under rendered skewback
arches. Corner and central flat pilasters. 3 windows to each floor mixture
of C19 and C20 casements and sashes. Brick saw toothed eaves cornice below
bell-based gabled roof. Ridge stack left of centre. Interior close studded
on brick plinth with middle rail. Staircase by stack. Tongue stopped beams.
Tension and arch braced corner posts in upstairs north room which was
originally open to roof. Roof structure mostly reconstructed with square
section queen posts, collars and clasped and butt purlins in 2 tiers.
