Remains of Castle Keep. 1140's possibly complete by 1146.
Whole coursed flint walls. Circular plan with internal cross wall running north-east to south-west. Walls survive to first floor level of 2 storey keep. Entrance arch to ground floor C15 but original pointed arched doorway through cross wall. Probably the earliest circular keep in England.
Moat bridge C13 of ashlar, flint and brick, some of the latter early C15, most C19. Parapet over arched opening.
