4/11 Lexham Hall
Mansion. Circa 1700 and later. Restored from 1948 by J.F. Watson. Colour
washed brick with slate roofs. Original house long rectangle. C18 wing
added to east end of south side which now forms entrance facade. Rear
pile added in later C18. 2 storeys with attics and cellars. North facade
(original entrance facade) of 7 bays of sash windows with glazing bars
beneath skewback arches (eastern 4 blind and painted). 3 centre bays
slightly advanced with a Victorian former 2-storey porch added to centre
bay. Wide moulded platband, rusticated quoins and restored modillion
cornice. 5 flat roofed dormers. Present entrance facade of 7 bays of
sash windows with glazing bars (6 to south blind) beneath skewback arches.
Pedimented central porch by J.F. Watson. Fixed jalousie shutters. Cornice
and platband as north. 3 gabled dormers. South facade at eastern end
of 5 bays of sash windows with glazing bars beneath skewback arches.
French windows to centre bay beneath segmental arch. Fixed jalousie shut-
ters. Cornice and platband as north. Remainder of south facade recessed.
Staircase bay with fine Venetian window. Doorway with rusticated surround
and scrolled pediment with festoon by J.F. Watson. Conservatory also
by J.F. Watson. Some late C18 plasterwork and one plaster panelled room.
