Former farmhouse. Late C18 with a C17 core. Colourwashed brick with black
pantiles. 2 storeys and a 3-bay symmetrical facade of 4 3-light and one
2-light mullion and transom windows with leaded glazing and metal casements.
Skewback arches. Raised and fielded panelled front door with architrave
doorcase and moulded pediment. Sawtooth cornice. 3 blocked C17 windows
in south gable-end with rectangular hood moulds. Single gable-end stack.
Later extensions to side and rear. Historical association birthplace
of Matthew Vassar (1792) founder of Vassar College at Poughkeepsie. New
York state.
