4/38 The White House

- II

House. Early C19 and earlier. Gault brick main block with slate roof. Red
brick service wing with pantiles. 2 storeys with cellar. Symmetrical 3-bay
facade articulated by giant pilasters with moulded imposts. Sash windows
with glazing bars beneath skewback arches. Semicircular headed doorway of
2 plain orders with a traceried fanlight. Wide eaves with plain paired
brackets. Hipped roofs. 2 bay east facade in similar style. C18 red brick
service wing to west with dentil cornice and one surviving 3-light mullion
and transom window with metal casement. C20 extension to north.
