2/12 Hilborough Hall
House. 1779 and later. Gault brick with some stone dressings and slate
roofs. Main block nearly square in plan with lower extensions to side and
rear. 3 storeys with cellar. Entrance facade of 5 bays of sash windows with
glazing bars beneath skewback arches. Top storey windows smaller. 3 centre
bays slightly advanced and pedimented. Rusticated ground floor quoins and
stone platbands. Semicircular headed front doorway with rusticated surround
and fanlight. 2-leaf panelled door. Flanked by narrow sash windows.
Balustraded windows above (Holkham fashion) and a straight hood mould above
the wider central window. Cornices of prominent dentils. East facade of
3 bays. Later rectangular bay to centre. Balustraded first floor window.
Rear facade of 4 bays with central 2 bays slightly advanced. Replacement
sash windows without glazing bars to ground floor. Balustraded first floor
windows. Hipped roofs. Single storeyed C20 extension to rear in sympathetic
style. 2-storeyed services to west. Interior. Fine Adam plasterwork and
