6/20 Holme Hale Hall
House. Essentially early C19 obscuring a C16 or C17 core. Later C19 and
C20 additions. Mainly rendered brick scored to imitate ashlar. Slate roofs.
Single pile original block with symmetrical single bay side additions and
a further billiard room extension to east. Various service adjuncts to rear.
Original block of 2 storeys with attic. Symmetrical facade of 5 bays of
French windows to ground floor and 2-light casement windows above - all with
margin glazing. Central entrance with a stuccoed open porch consisting of
a pair of unfluted Doric columns supporting a plain entablature which forms
a balcony with elaborate iron railings in Regency style. Reeded architrave
and blind box to balcony door. Wide eaves with paired shaped brackets.
3 pedimented dormer windows with margin glazed casements, moulded cornices
and panelled jambs. Parapetted gables and end stacks. Early C18 single
bay pedimented side additions. Fenestration similar to original block.
Straight hood moulds on consoles and jalousie shutters. Western facade of
western addition of 3 bays of sash windows with glazing bars and a large
central single storeyed canted bay. Pedimented rear facade. Eastern
extension of 2 storeys and 3 bays of sash windows, with glazing bars to
ground floor only.
