II

Former stable block, now agricultural building. Built mid 19th century for
William Mason of Necton Hall, but probably incorporating an earlier building.
Red brick with gault brick and Costessey-ware dressings; slate roofs, crested
ridges on wings. 2½ storey central block with I½ storey wings; T-shaped plan.
Symmetrical facade with 3-bay centre block slightly advanced under an elaborate
shaped gable. Three ground floor openings with semi-circular arched heads.
Moulded string course at first floor level. Three first floor windows with
mullion and transom and glazing bars. Stone gable coping with ball-finials
at springing. Central sun-dial panel flanked by oculi in gable. Side wings,
each with two square-headed door openings and two semi-circular headed cross-
windows. Upper loading door in half-dormer with shaped gable. Moulded eaves
course. Crow-stepped gables to north, south and west. Lower pantiled range,
possibly earlier, on west side. Necton Hall is now demolished.
