Mid C19, carstone with buff brick dressings. Slate roofs. No 17 front west, 2 storey, 2 windows at 1st floor and blank centre panel. 2 sash windows at ground floor and central entrance with 6-panel door, divided fanlight and wood case with pilasters. Nos 19, 21 & 23, balanced composition, 7 sash windows, at 1st floor, with glazing bars. Low parapet, with stone cope, above 5 centre windows. Central entrance (No 21) Entrances Nos 19 and 23 flanked by full height pilasters. Brick dentil cornice. Stone cill band extends below centre 5 windows. Plinth. Slate roofs hipped. 6-panel doors with divided fanlights and wood cases with pilasters. Front lawns.

Nos 17 to 25 (odd) form a group with Former National School and Former Howdale Lodge and also with No 10 Howdale Road.
