Former Farm House, now a hotel. Dated 1648 in south gable. Original house
facing east 2 storeys with attics with additions on west and north forming
"L" plan. Main house to east knapped flint with galleting and some carstone
on south and east fronts, brick dressings, tiled roofs. Off-centre 2 storey
gabled porch, with cement rendered 4-centre arched entrance, C20 infill door,
first floor casement above. Porch south return with blocked first floor brick
dressed C17 window. To south single bay with one ground floor 3-light and
one first floor 2-light casement. To north 2 ground floor 3-light and 2 first
floor 2-light, all C20 casements with glazing bars. South returned gable,
one ground floor 3-light and first floor and gable single 2-light casements.
Datestone. Carstone parapet copings. East porch and south bay and gable of
one build, with C17 brick dressings to ¾ height of gable. North bays in another
build of rubble carstone, flint and brick, north gable of squared and coursed
carstone with brick dressings. One gabled dormer with one 2-light cross
window with glazing bars. One ridge axial stack with 4 shafts, mid C19.
To north at right angles 2 storey service wing, one ground and 3 first floor
casements with glazing bars, some C17 brick dressings, part of mid C19 shaft
stacks on ridge. Continuing to east on attached C17 2 storey cottage, chalk
with 2 ground and 2 first floor blocked C17 windows with brick dressings.
Blocked central door with inserted 2-light casement, brick coped gable and
east end stack. To west 2 2-storey mid C19 gabled wings at right angles to
main house, carstone to south and west, pantiled roofs.
