The Chequers Inn public house. Mid and late C17, of 2 builds. Whitewashed
clunch with some carstone, brick dressings, red pantiled roofs. 2 storey
with attics, lobby entrance plan at west, earlier build to east. Both builds
with c.1900 and C20 details. 3 ground floor plate glass window with 2 upright
glazing bar divisions to each half sash; sash at west with single glazing
bar. 4 first floor plate glass sashes with single glazing bar. 2 C20 part
glazed doors under bracketted pantiled hipped hoods. Build to east with C17
brick quoins to west gable and along straight joint with west build; blocked
first floor brick stitched C17 window. West build with first floor plat-band,
blocked west gable brick dressed window. Steeply pitched roof with one west
axial stack, one east end gable stack.
