Stable block, converted to ballroom late C19. Mid C16, additions C18 and C19.
Brick with pantiled roof. Rectangular plan. 2 storeys. East front of indeterminate
bays. Wide 4-centred carriage entrance to left and 2 further 4-centred doorways
middle and right, all with rendered architraves. 4 groups of 4-light round-
headed windows each floor within rendered square surrounds arbitrarily placed.
String course between floors rises over carriage entrance. Central first floor
hay loft door. Gabled roof. Stepped gables north and south with brick coping
and moulded kneelers. Partly external octagonal gable stacks. To west of chimney
one arched attic window north and south. C19 pantiled gabled extension abuts
north. West front similar : set off at first floor, arched doorway to left,
4 groupd of identical windows but unrendered, one of which has timber C18 arched
fenestration. To south one storey mid C18 gabled extension with tumbling enclosed
and heightened 1864 to match main block : stepped gable, similar groups of first
floor windows. Fireplaces added to interior necessitating 2 additional octagonal
chimney flues set against original south stack in triangular pattern. Interior.
In south extention a wide C19 staircase leads to upper storey of main range
fitted as ballroom : plaster skirting board and cornice. Central octagonal
stained glass chandelier cage projects cupola-like into roof space with moulded
timber and plaster surround.
