10/26 Manor Cottage.
House. Datestone 1742, perhaps dating a refacing and heightening of an earlier
galleted structure. Knapped and galleted flint laid in courses, brick
dressings, black glazed pantiled roofs. 2 storeys, 7 openings: 3 blocked
and 4 open windows. Perhaps originally a pre-1700 lobby entrance plan house
at north, later heightened and divided into cottages, now in 2 occupations.
4 ground floor window openings. 2 blocked doors and one open door. 2 north
3-light casement cross windows, one central 3-light cast iron framed and
glazing barred casement, one 2-light casement cross window at south. 2 blocked
doors dating from division into cottages. South door with architrave and
C20 hipped pentice canopy. 2 north windows under flat arches, 2 south windows
under cambered arches, brick dressings. 3 first floor. casement cross windows,
one cast iron framed with glazing bars 2-light casement. 3 blocked bricked
up windows, all with flush brick rusticated surrounds. Brick quoins and eaves
cornice. Swept eaves, one south end gable and one north axial stack. South
gable has pebble flint courses of earlier roof pitch with brick tumbling above
existing roof pitch. North gable has 2 storey canted c.1900 pebble dashed
bow with lead glazing bar windows.
