2/44 Former Congregational


Former Congregational church. Late C18 with addition 1896. Earlier build
Flemish bond red brick, black glazed pantiled roof. Single storey, north-south
orientation. Entrance front to south of 3 bays, 2 3-light switch tracery
Gothick windows and central door all under rubbed brick Gothic arches. Raised
chamfered brick quoins to west facing angles only. East and north faces have
2 3-light switch tracery Gothick windows under rubbed brick Gothic arches
with 2 additional lancets. South side has 2 3-light switch tracery Gothick
windows with nave addition of 1896 inserted in between at right angles. Dentil
eaves brick cornice, hipped roof. Interior has flat ceiling with deep cove.
