12/52 The White House



House. Early C18, altered mid C18. Brick, flint and some carstone. Roof
of black glazed pantiles. Double pile plan. 2 storeys and attic in 7
irregular bays. Portico porch of rendered and colourwashed brick left of
centre: square corner pilasters and pair of Tuscan columns support architrave
with ovolo acanthus plaster frieze. Leaded roof. Fenestration of sashes
of various dates, 2 to right of porch C18, remainder C19 or C20. Semi-
circular window over porch lights stair well. Brick modillion eaves cornice.
Gabled roof hipped to north. 2 pedimented dormers with casements. Ridge
stack left of centre and internal gable stack to right. South gable head
with tumbling and raised parapet.
