Lodge to Little Massingham House. c.1904-1905; by Edmund Wimperis and Best,
architects. Red brick, red tiled roof. Edwardian neo-Vernacular Freestyle.
One and a half storeys, 3 bays. South front has 2 ground floor and 2 attic
gable. 3-light wooden casements with glazing bars. Central concave bowed
rubbed brick apsed entrance with braided and part glazed door under pentice
with wrought-iron tie. Leaded stringcourse label above windows and pentice.
Marisard roof with central wooden moulded eaves gable across almost entire
facade with 2 separate hips above each gable window, tiled apexes. Canted.
End gables with raised lozenge patterns, tiled gables, moulded eaves, 2 end
stacks. Included as example of style when not designing to a specific proto-
type, as at Little Massingham House (q.v.).
