6/25 The Crown Inn
Public House, C18. Colourwashed brick with some flint, plain mottled tiles.
5 bays plus chimney bays, 1½ storeys. Axial stack to chimney bay between
bays 2 and 3, right end chimney bay and internal stack. Flint to first floor
of bays 3 to 5; platband to bays 3 and 4; blocked doorway to bay 1, double
leaved door to chimney bay, doorway with wide gabled wooden porch with slate
roof to left of bay 5. 3-light casements with glazing bars to ground floor
bays 2 to 5; first floor with 5 double casements. Left return with flush
ground floor sash with glazing bars. Interior: axial stack between bays 2
and 3; single room addition to rear of bay 3 with reeded surround to sash
window with glazing bars, shelved cupboard to left angle having conch head
with sun face and rays, semi-circular shelves, semi-circular headed classical
surround with reeded jambs. Fifth bay with ogee stepped principal beams;
fire place with Dutch tiles.
