House, remodelled early C19 on earlier core of c.1600. Rendered and scored;
slate roof. Double range; 3 wide bays with flanking cross wings, 2 storeys.
3 central bays earlier and low: central porch with two wooden Tuscan columns
and pilasters, flat entablature, C19 part glazed door; recessed sashes with
glazing bars 4 x 4 panes to bays 2 and 4, recessed sash above doorway; gault
brick stacks at either end of central 3 bays. Flanking cross wings higher:
2-storeyed with shaped gables to front; large 2-storeyed flat-roofed canted
bays with sashes with glazing bars. Left and right returns each with two
gables, left return of brick, right return rendered and scored. Rear range:
galletted carstone with red brick dressings, slate roof, gable parapets;
8 irregular bays, 2 storeys; bay 2 windowless; ground floor with tall
recessed sashes with glazing bars to ground, first floor with recessed sashes
with glazing bars; bay 5 with enclosing glazed porch to ground floor, part
glazed door, Venetian stair window above with glazing bars. Interior: roof
wholly of C19. Centre 3 bays of front range with end stacks; left cell with
moulded bridging beam having ogee stops; right cell with C19 partition having
wide semi-circular headed arches, bridging beam with ogee stops. Rear range
with openwell staircase to centre curved away from wall, open string with
stick ballusters and wreathed mahogany handrail.
