5/41 Church of All Saints
Parish church, 1852, by A. Salvin totally replacing medieval church, various
sandstones and carstone in random uncoursed rubble with limestone dressings,
plain tiles. West tower, nave, chancel, south porch. Early English style.
4 stage tower with embattled parapet, ashlar limestone octagonal turret with
polygonal roof to south west angle of parapet, string course below parapet
with 2 gargoyles to south; angle buttresses; deeply moulded west doorway,
trefoil headed lights either side and to north and south faces; 2nd stage
with blank arcade in Early English style, 2 arches to west being glazed,
small trefoil headed light to west face of 3rd stage; large 2-light bell
openings with plate tracery quatrefoils. Nave with four 2-light openings,
with plate tracery quatrefoils to south, 4 lancets to north, buttresses.
Chancel with 3 lancets to east, 2 to south, 1 to north, small vestry to
north. Windowless porch retiled, glazed door to arch c1985. Interior:
painted C19 screen to tower.
