20/19 Manor Farmhouse

6.3.59 II

Manor Farmhouse, formerly Green Farmhouse and barns. Ashlared stucco on flint
and brick, red pantile roof. C17 single pile 2 storey house, C19 rear wing,
C17 1 1/2 storey front wing. Ground floor with 4 sash windows with glazing bars,
on R tripartite window. First floor, 5 sash windows, glazing bars. C19 gault
brick battlemented porch, with four-centred arch quoined pilaster strips at
angles. 8 panel raised and fielded door. Simple plastered eaves and coped
parapet marking earlier higher roof line. 3 2-light casement dormer windows with
glazing bars, wooden moulded architraves and pediments of late C17 or e.C18 date.
Central C19 stack; 2 earlier and moulded brick hexagonal stacks. End gables,
flint, brick, re-used cut stone. Rear stuccoed. Parallel with house a C17
domestic wing, one storey, attics; gable at right angles to house. A 5 light
wooden mullion window under moulded brick lintel. Simple boarded door. Flat
string course at springing of gable. 5 light mullion and transomed window in gable
wooden; moulded brick architrave and flat brick pilaster strip surrounds under
elaborate Dutch gable with brick copings and seven finials. Attached to house by
brick passage. Oak mullioned windows on return. Whole recently restored.
