30.11.51 I
Garden Temple. 1729-31 by William Kent. Gault brick partly stuccoed wlth
limestone dressings. Slate roofs over portico and side wings, lead covered
dome. Pedimented portico with medallion metope frieze. Two Roman Doric columns
in antis with egg and dart echinus. Central block supporting domed octagon
linked to portico by two semi-circular arches. Sash windows with glazing bars,
plain stone band at sill level. Diocletian windows in E and W sides of octagon.
Two lower side wings in part-pediments, moulded brick eaves.

Interior: fine doorway to portico uith lugged architrave surmounted by broken
pediment. Pulvinated frieze. Moulded plaster cornice at springing of dome.
Four semi-circular headed niches.
