5/36 Garden Temple to South
East of Holkham Hall

Cruciform garden temple, C1850, arranged as a seat on the terrace. Stone with
leaded roof. Each single bay elevation has an order on bases, framing an arched
opening with an entablature and pediment above. Roman Doric order, entablature
frieze with trigylphs. Guttae to cornice and to reveals of pediment. Arch with
impost, keystone and wreaths in spandrels. Stylistically of a piece with more
simply detailed orangery.
