Sculthorpe House


House. Former Rectory house. C18 with later C18 additions and c1820 wing at rere.
Front pile of colour washed brick with red pantiled roof, double pile south returns,
of red brick to west, gault brick to east with black pantiled roof. Front pile of
3 bays and 2 storeys with attics and central gabled entrance wing with brick
rusticated quoins, doubled at front but single on returns, in style of early C18 but
perhaps C19 at gable level and perhaps below. One ground and one first floor sash
with glazing bars to each flanking bay, central first floor sash with glazing bars,
C19 attic gable casement. Central part glazed door in reeded frame with paterae
c1820, with inserted C20 pediment and iron columns. End gables with stacks. West
gable with c1820 ground floor gault brick bowed bay with French windows in reeded
frames. West return of 3 storeys, sashes with glazing bars. North return to garden
c1820 4 bays, 4 ground floor French windows, 4 first floor sashes. Three bay ground
floor room with Greek Revival details.
