5/86 The Grove.


Former farm house cottages, now one dwelling. Early C18. Red brick stretchers
with black headers in Flemish bond, red pantiled roof. One storey with attics.
6 window ground floor, partly cast-iron casements with glazing bars with some
rubbed brick flat arches. Central boarded door, other doorways filled in.
Platband, 5 attic dormers, some cast iron 2-light casements with glazing bars.
End gables with kneelers and Dutch gables, at west with partly indecipherable
date-stone, perhaps 1723, at east partly rebuilt C20. Original stack at west,
C20 ridge and east end stacks. Outshut rear. Interior with some chamfered
and stopped beams and 2 panel raised and fielded doors with IL hinges.
Presumably same builder and date as barn to east.
