9/3 Manor House
House and attached garden wall to south, C16. Brick and flint with pantiled
roof. Single range of 3 bays; left hand bay an early C17 addition.
Continuous 2 storey C19 addition at rear. 2 storeys. Central and right
hand bay flint with brick dressings, left hand bay of brick. Late C19 3-light
casement windows, those to ground floor having transoms. Blocked window
to right of right hand bay first floor. Projecting 2-storey gabled porch
between centre and right hand bay: brick with pantile roof, clasping polygonal
buttresses with onion shaped finials in stone; 4-centred brick arch with
brick dripstone; pointed first floor window with single vertical glazing
bar. Right hand gable: brick with diaper work; flint plinth with moulded
brick cap. Left hand gable is black colourwashed. Polygonal shafts to right
gable end internal stack. 4 linked polygonal shafts to stack between left
and centre bay. Interior: newel staircase with brick vault behind internal
right hand gable stack; centre and right hand bays have chamfered beams
with ogee stops; ceiling joists to 2nd storey have roll mouldings; principal
beams in left hand bay have ovolo mouldings. Attached garden wall: flint
with brick quoins and coping, off-set flint plinth with brick cap.
