Watermill, mid C18. Millhouse, late C18/early C19. 2 storey mill to left
over River Glaven; 2 sluice arches; large weather boarded gabled loft
projecting forward supported by 3 wooden posts. North-east gable of mill
in Flemish garden bond brick, upper part weather boarded; central door to
wheel; 3 slanting brick buttresses. Rear of mill over 3 brick sluice
arches, ground floor timber framed with brick nogging; much renewed, first
floor weather boarded. Interior of mill: much of machinery remains including
water wheel, great spur wheel and stones. It is of a rare type of
installation having the drive to the stones from above. Attached millhouse:
brick under pantiles. 5 bays. 2 storeys and attic. All windows renewed
late C20; 5 casements to each floor, 4 gabled roof dormers with casements
under pantiles. 3 axial stacks rebuilt; righthand gable in brick over
flint plinth, 2 attic windows. Rear facade of brick, with flint to lower
wall to right. Wooden stair to first floor door to left; central 2 storey
outshut with flint to lower walls, weather boarded above, pantiles.
