3.6.85 The Old Rectory, (formerly
listed as The Rectory)

House, former Rectory. c1800. Brick under shallow pitched slate roof.
Wide eaves with modillions. Double depth. Gable end internal stacks, east
stack renewed, each with 5 chimney pots. 3 storeys. North front to church:
3 irregular spaced windows, recessed sashes with thin glazing bars under
flat arches; ground floor sash to right renewed, blocked opening to left.
Off-centre doorway enclosed by semi-glazed late C20 porch of no architectural
significance. Double leaved 6 panelled door, upper 4 panels glazed.
Rusticated rendered brick surround to semicircular headed doorway and jambs.
Symmetrical south (garden) front in 5 bays; the central 3 bays breaking
forward, the central bay projecting further. Rusticated brick quoins
articulate each bay, only above ground floor to central bay. All windows
under skew back arches with rendered key stones. Ground floor: 5 double
leaved french windows with glazing bars and margin lights. Recessed sashes
with glazing bars to first and second floors. 5 sashes to first floor, on
second floor sashes of 3 x 2 panes in bays 1, 3 and 5. Dummy windows to
bays 2 and 4. Right hand gable to east with 2 storeyed polygonal projection,
having flush sashes with glazing bars, one dummy window. Interior: marble
fireplace with reeded surround to east side.
