GV II

House, c1635, of two builds. Brick once colourwashed under black glazed
pantiles to front, (south), pantiles to rear (north). Single range of 3
bays. Right hand bay of slightly later addition. 2 storeys and attic.
South front has flush sashes with glazing bars of 16 panes. 2 left hand
bays in Flemish bond, originally with gable end stacks, the right hand stack
now being axial; platband, oversailing cornice; boarded door to left hand
bay; 2 windows and one blocked opening to ground and first floor; casement
with glazing bars to central bay raking dormers; 2 roof lights to left.
Later right hand bay in English bond with dentil cornice; 6 panelled door
to left, upper 2 panels glazed; one sash to ground and first floor; gable
end stack. Right hand gable of uncoursed flint brick mosaic, brick above
eaves. Rear front to north facing common: right hand side has brick plinth
on flint base, platband; central semicircular headed window with glazing
bars and margin lights; 2 ground floor meshed casements, one upper floor
sash with glazing bars. Left hand side bay in brick, English bond above;
castellated cornice; scattered fenestration, one sash to ground and first
floor. Interior: large fire place to central cell; straight staircase
along rear wall behind stack with bobbin and vase turned balusters continuing
along landing and to attic; roof of staggered purlins and curved collars.
Late C20 linking bay to adjacent barn to west; ground floor end bay of barn
internally incorporated into house.
