9/2 North Gatehouse to
Broomholm Priory
G.V. II*

Gatehouse. C15. Flint with ashlar dressings. Gatehouse 2 bays deep with
originally 2 4-centred arches, of which only inner arch remains : wave moulded
with spandrels carrying heraldic decoration. To east and west of entrance
arches 2 storey chambers, that to east now demolished. Chambers illuminated
through brick arched windows. To east precinct wall follows line of Back
Lane from gatehouse : flint with brick coping. Scheduled Ancient Monument,
County number 169.
