7/29 Barn at Church Farm
- II

5 stead barn. Late C17. 3 stead barn, extended to south early C18. Brick
with thatched roof. Flint plinth. One storey. Brick bonding of C17 portion
in form of 2 rows stretchers and one row Flemish Bond. 2 full height double
doors. 3 slit ventilation lights, one left of left door, 2 right of right
door. Eaves of mud and stud. Gabled roof. Gable heads on kneelers. At
south-west corner a clasping buttress. Tumbling in south gable head, 3 slit
lights and an owl hole. Outshuts obscure east face of barn. Ventilation
slits splayed on interior. Roof of tie beams on arched braces, most of braces
now missing. Principals with collars and 2 tiers butt purlins. Straight
windbracing between purlins. Secondary rafters pegged into purlins. Church
Farmhouse not listed.
